Overview

Composable Social Graph, supercharged with AI and powered by DeFi

Introduction

DegenHive is a decentralized composable social graph and application platform implemented as Move modules on the Sui network. It is designed to empower users with control over their data and AI creations, foster open AI innovation, and establish a sustainable economic model that benefits the entire community.

Key components of DegenHive include:

  • Composable Social Graph: DegenHive's social graph is made up of HiveProfile Objects, which serve as on-chain digital identities unique for every user and grant them ownership of their social interactions and content. Each HiveProfile can store upto 256 whitelisted third-party applications, allowing developers to distribute apps, games and ideas on top of the social graph.

  • Supported DeFi primitives: DegenHive supports multiple type of AMM pools (Passive concentrated liquidity, stableswap, weighted) with either 2 or 3 tokens support along-with a Liquid staking layer (allows users to stake SUI for dSUI, earning staking rewards without lockups or complex infrastructure). Protocol fees earned by the supported DeFi primitives is accrued in dSUI, helping contribute towards network security.

  • Open datasets: The platform fuels AI model development through community-generated data. This drives innovation and creates new monetization opportunities for creators via NFTs.

DegenHive's Time-Stream Profile which supports auctions for advertisement slot and opportunity to become a creator on the platform collects SUI as Protocol-Owned-Liquidity (POL), ensuring the value generated by the social graph is captured and redistributed back to the community. This creates a self-sustaining economy that benefits creators, developers, and the wider DegenHive community.

DeFi yield for network security via liquid staked SUI (dSUI) - Protocol fees earned by the supported DeFi primitives are accrued as liquid-staked SUI (dSUI) for overall network security. This dSUI collected by these DeFi primitives is then distributed among protocol's decision-makers proportional to their active voting power. As adoption and on-chain trading activity grows, the yield contribution from trading activities adds to the chain security grows over time and degenhive’s decision-makers eventually earn more say in Sui network’s governance.

The Centralization Dilemma and the Need for Open Accelerationism (o/acc)

Humans are inspired by stories. In an era where storytelling and digital creativity intersect through the advent of generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI), the potential to democratize content creation has never been more significant. Gen AI tools can empower individuals to share their narratives, breaking down the traditional barriers associated with the production and distribution of digital media. This evolution in content creation holds the promise of a more inclusive digital landscape, where creativity is not confined by economic or logistical constraints.

The Centralization Dilemma

Yet, this promise is at risk of being overshadowed by the centralized control of gen AI platforms, which consolidates power, control, and financial gains in the hands of a few, which is disadvantageous to individual creators and small teams, and potentially exacerbates societal wealth inequality.

A critical aspect of this challenge lies in how social networks, acting as repositories for curated datasets, influence AI model development. The effectiveness of these models is heavily dependent on the quality and breadth of data, giving entities with extensive data reserves a distinct advantage. This is exemplified by instances like Elon Musk's decision to impose rate limits and charge for Twitter API access, a move that underscores the difficulty of accessing large, valuable datasets and the broader issue of proprietary control over data that could otherwise fuel innovation in AI.

Moreover, the centralized governance of social networks poses risks of censorship and restricts the composability which can fuel the growth of a vibrant digital ecosystem. These platforms' control over content and data not only fuels debates around free speech, especially in the context of pivotal societal events but also cements the dominance of a few corporations over AI advancements.

These dynamics stifle creativity and limit the economic opportunities available to the wider community, reinforcing the centralization dilemma at the epi-center of today's digital and AI-driven landscapes.

Introducing Open Accelerationism (o/acc)

DegenHive adopts a distinct philosophical approach to address these challenges. Building upon Vitalik Buterin's concept of defensive/decentralized acceleration (d/acc), which advocates responsible technological advancement, DegenHive embraces Open Accelerationism (o/acc). This philosophy champions unrestricted technological progress with an unwavering focus on inclusivity and equitable distribution of benefits. The "o" signifies:

  • Open-Source Innovation: Breakthroughs should be accessible, fostering an inclusive digital landscape where everyone can create and benefit.

  • Shared Prosperity: Gains from technological progress should be widely distributed, not concentrated in the hands of a few.

  • Collaborative Development: Open-source models and open datasets encourage collaboration and transparency, empowering communities to shape technology.

DegenHive and the o/acc philosophy

DegenHive embodies o/acc. It's a decentralized social network and application platform empowering creators, developers, and users through AI innovation and equitable economic participation. Its core features directly counter centralization:

  • Ownership and Control: Users retain full ownership of their content, social connections, and the data they generate.

  • Open Innovation: Community-generated datasets fuel collaborative AI development, democratizing access to AI capabilities and making large curated data-sets available to developers they can train their AI models on.

  • Equitable Economics: DegenHive's sustainable economic model ensures the value created on the platform flows back to the community via time-stream auctions powered protocol-owned-liquidity model.

  • Composable Ecosystem: Developers can seamlessly build and distribute applications on top of the DegenHive's social graph, enabling censorship resistant p2p experiences among users on the platform.
