# HIVE == Energy

### Overview

HIVE tokens serve as the energy reservoir for dragon-bees within DegenHive. They can be locked with dragon-bees for up to four years, enabling them to accumulate energy points and earn a share of the HIVE redistributed through protocol-driven buybacks.

### **Supply Distribution**

The total supply of HIVE tokens is capped at 1 billion, allocated as follows:

* **45%** reserved for liquidity provider (LP) incentives.
* **30%** allocated to the team and early backers, subject to a vesting period of 1-3 years.
* **15%** earmarked for bootstrapping and launch initiatives.
* **5%** set aside for the protocol treasury.
* **5%** designated for genesis dragon-bee eggs.

### **Utility and Use-Cases**

HIVE tokens are integral to the ecosystem with four primary uses:

1. **Liquidity Incentives**: Post-launch, HIVE tokens are distributed to the community primarily through incentives for liquidity providers who supply liquidity to various pools.
2. **Energy Accumulation**: Locking HIVE with dragon-bees allows users to accumulate energy points crucial for the vitality and functionality of their dragon-bees, also enabling them to earn more HIVE as rewards.
3. **Directing HIVE emissions**: Users can leverage the energy points of their dragon-bees to participate in and vote on the distribution of HIVE emissions across different AMM pools.
4. **AI api access fees:** HIVE will be used for AI API access payments
